More than one in three people in the UK will develop cancer at some time in their life. That’s why we must all work together to find new ways of preventing and treating cancer.
Cancer Research UK is the UK’s leading cancer research organisation, funding over 2,500 scientists. Right now we are on the brink of many exciting discoveries but our vital work can’t continue without the help of people like you.
Please support our work today so we can cure cancer – faster.

Gift Aid was introduced by the Government to allow charities to reclaim the tax made on gifts by taxpayers. This means that, if you are a UK taxpayer, your gift can increase by nearly a third – at no extra cost to you.

Gift Aid was introduced by the Government to allow charities to reclaim the tax made on gifts by taxpayers. This means that, if you are a UK taxpayer, your gift can increase by nearly a third – at no extra cost to you.
- Cancer Research UK can reclaim the basic rate of tax on all donations, large and small, regular and one-off, made by a UK taxpayer.
- Donors can join the Gift Aid scheme by telephone or by internet, removing the need to sign a form.
- Declarations made over the telephone or on the internet will not be effective until a confirmation of the declaration has been sent to you. Additionally, oral declarations may be cancelled within 30 days of the confirmation being sent.
- You only need to make one Gift Aid declaration to us, thereby eliminating the need for repeat declarations each time you want to make a donation.
So why not make a donation today and let your gift to Cancer Research UK go even further!
Charitable trusts and key individual donors play a crucial part in helping our scientists find new ways of understanding, preventing and treating cancer.
The commitment of our supporters provides vital funding for our ongoing work, as well as for specific projects across the country.
'The Childwick Trust is pleased to be involved in Cancer Research UK's vital work. The high standard of research being carried out in their laboratories and hospital units is widely recognised and we appreciate being kept informed of the progress they are making. We believe that, with our help, Cancer Research UK will be able to advance the understanding of this disease and find new ways of preventing and treating it for the benefit of all cancer patients, both now and in the future.'
Sarah Frost, Trustee of the Childwick Trust.
Your donation can make a difference
Cancer Research UK relies on charitable trusts and key individual donors to support a wide range of work: from highly-skilled researchers and state-of-the-art equipment to the running of an entire laboratory or unit. Below are just a few examples of how your donation could help us make real advances in the prevention and treatment of cancer.
£5,000 could help our teams of nurses, based in our family cancer clinics across the country, offer much-needed support and practical advice to 200 families who are at a high risk of cancer.
£13,500 could buy an essential piece of equipment such as a microscope. Access to the most up-to-date equipment is vital if we are to remain at the forefront of cancer research.
£33,400 could support one of our research scientists for a year. Our scientists are involved in the whole spectrum of cancer research from investigating the basic workings of cancer to developing pioneering new treatments, such as gene therapy.
£50,000 could help to support one of our clinical trials, which are turning the knowledge gained in our laboratory research into hope for more effective treatments to cancer patients.
Other ways of giving
Instead of making a cash donation on a regular basis or as a one-off gift, you may prefer to donate shares or securities or set up a trust fund. Whatever you decide, there are many ways to give tax efficiently.
We have nearly 800 shops across the United Kingdom. Our shops sell mainly second-hand goods that have been generously donated by the public.
Shop donations generate income that is vital to our mission and all items are gratefully accepted.
The most cost effective way for you to donate is to simply bring your goods in to one of our stores. Alternatively, we can offer you plastic sacks that can be filled with donated items and picked up from you on a specified date by one of our collectors.
We are always pleased to receive donations, no matter how small, of the following items:
- Ladieswear
- Menswear
- Childrenswear
- Shoes, handbags and accessories
- Linen
- Jewellery
- CDs, videos & DVDs
- Toys and games
Items of particular value are:
- Books
- Pottery
- Glassware
- China
- Antiques
- Crockery and cutlery
- Other household goods
